What is F3?

The FIA Formula 3 Championship is born from the merge of the FIA F3 European Championship and the GP3 Series in 2019 and it is an inherent part of the single-seater pyramid first leading to Formula 2 and then to Formula 1. All FIA Formula 3 race events will run alongside F1.

Launched in 2010, the aim of the GP3 Series wa to give young promising drivers a chance to develop their driving skills and jump to the next steps.

In the GP3 Series history, ART Grand Prix won eight champions' titles out of nine year and their drivers achieved six champions' crowns: Esteban Gutierrez (2010), Valtteri Bottas (2011), Esteban Ocon (2015), Charles Leclerc (2016), George Russell (2017) and Anthoine Hubert (2018).

Format of the race week-end:

Friday Saturday Sunday
  • One 45-minute Free Sessions
  • Race 1 and starting grid determined by qualifying.
  • Race 2 and the starting grid is decided by the rankings from Race 1, the 8 top finishers will start in reverse order.

Points allocation:

Race 1 Race 2
Points allocated the same as in FIA F2. The top ten secures 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 respectively. 1 additional point will be awarded to the driver who secures the fastest lap of the race and 4 points for the pole winner. Top 8 drivers secure points (15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1). 1 additional point will be awarded to the driver who secures the fastest lap of the race.
